The CT scan is
one of the easiest, safest, and most valuable windows into the human
body. A CT scan is an innovative, new procedure that can show detailed,
cross-sectional images of all parts of the body. It provides your
physician with a completely unobstructed look at your body that far
surpasses conventional X-ray techniques. With just a simple pain-free
CT scan an intricate picture of your body is presented, allowing for
a wide array of more precise medical diagnosis. For a more detailed
summary of a CT scan, please check our
What is a CT scan page.

The Affiliated Medical center is devoted to
comfortable, fast, and accurate health care screening. Minimal preparation
is required. The entire procedure takes roughly about a half-hour's
time and there is no evasion whatsoever. It's just one of those things
you can do on your lunch hour. Depending on your particular procedure,
the screening will capture up to several hundred high-resolution images
of your body while you comfortably lie on your stomach or back. The
actual scan will take less than a single breath. Every Affiliated
Medical scan is comfortable and private. In fact, you don't even need
to remove your clothes. For more information, please check our Procedure
page.

Immediately following your scan, you will
receive a personal consultation with our expert radiologist, Dr. Tony
Bennett. He will present images of the vital organs in your body and
any problem areas you may have. The radiologist will also answer any
questions you and you will walk out with a CD-ROM of your images for
your personal records.

No. CT Scanning is considered a completely
safe procedure. CT does involve some exposure to radiation, similar
to the radiation you would receive from an X-ray. However, the amount
of radiation you receive from a CT procedure is quite insignificant.
In fact, the amount of radiation you do receive is equivalent to the
amount of radiation you would receive in 3 years from natural sources
such as the sun.

Insurance coverage on CT screening exams is
variable and thus depends upon the individual basis of the patient.

symptoms have been officially diagnosed, so you should check both
with your doctor and insurance company regarding this issue. For more
information regarding your particular case, please email us
help@amdmd.com or call Affiliated Medical of Dearborn at 313-563-0773.
We are happy to provide you with the appropriate paperwork so that
you may submit your CT screening exam for reimbursement.

No, pregnant women should not have
a CT exam or an X-ray for that matter. Depending upon the condition,
there may be other exams available, such as ultrasound, to help diagnose
a medical condition. Please ask your doctor.
